  • Students travel across the nation to talk to their heroes and job crushes and understand college and career decisions along the way. The Roadtrip Nation website offers students the opportunity to:
  • Learn more about interests, abilities, and goals
  • Discover a whole new range of careers and potential benefits
  • Develop decision-making, job-seeking, and job-keeping skills

Texas Reality Check’s website includes a career search for high school students, which provides a ton of information on hundreds of different jobs—how much they pay, how popular they are, what you need to study in order to qualify for them, and more.

The Lifestyle Calculator lets students walk through what monthly expenses will look like – from housing to food to fun. Once students have understood their minimum salary requirement, they’ll explore jobs that match the salary they’ll need.

High schoolers explore careers and gain real-world experience in order to become more workforce ready. Employers also take the challenge.

The goal of the Texas Internship Challenge is to:

  • Challenge Texas employers to offer paid internships and to urge their business partners to do the same
  • Challenge colleges and universities to grant academic credit for and promote internship opportunities to students
  • Challenge students to apply for and accept these internships

The Texas Consumer Resource for Education and Workforce Statistics (Texas CREWS) is an interactive dashboard tool providing comparative information about Texas public 2-year and 4-year postsecondary institutions. By evaluating programs and institutions on the basis of resultant wages and student loan levels, Texas CREWS will allow parents and students to make informed decisions about college and get the best return on their educational investment.

10th Grade

Tour date: April 23, 2019.
  • UH Clear Lake: 9:30 am to 1:30 pm
  • Rice University: 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • UH Main Campus: 12:00 pm- 3:15 pm
Students should arrive to school at the normal time (7:55 am). Transportation will be provided To and From the school. Students are required to either bring sack lunches from home or get sack lunches from school. Again, students will be picking ONE of the listed tours to go on. There is a first come first serve basis as there is limited availability for each tour. (For instance, only 40 students can go to Rice).
